Session 4: Assignment One Question

Find one example of Internet marketing that you think is particularly effective and one example that is ineffective.
Explain your reasons, for example, you can describe how well the effective example takes advantage of the Internet's properties (e.g. interactivity, personalization, greater hold on user's interest). For the ineffective ad, you may describe how you can improve on it.

I think BCBGMAXAZRIA is particularly effective of Internet marketing

http://www.bcbg.com/home/index.jsp

Their front page is very attractive & customer all information they wants in this website (promotion/New arrival/sale items).

Customer can simply click on the clothing which they are interested in. then, the website will show you all details such as price, size, color, fabric content etc.

And all clothing is present by a model & customer can zoom in the picture to show the detail appearance of the product just like you are shopping in the retail shop.

They also provided online shopping function. Customer can check the stock availability before they decide to buy it.

Customer will receive exclusive offers and updates from BCBG.COM after signup by e-mail.

BCBG is doing a great job with its web site and Internet marketing efforts

I think Health Works is ineffective of Internet marketing

http://www.health-wks.com/

The design of their front page is very simple & easily ignored.

There is no languages to choose in this website, & the product information is not comprehensive (e.g so not list the price)

And there is just a rough introduction for the new products & general background for the company,

The website of Health Works is lack of interactivity & it can’t hold on user’s attention.

  1. Yes, I agree it sounds like BCBG is doing a better job than Health Works. Internet advertising is different from traditional advertising, and anyone who wishes to use it should take advantage of its interactivity and higher level of user engagement, rather than just duplicating the same experience one would get in a magazine ad or T.V. ad.
